Pardalote Residence sits within the bushland of Red Hill on a site that asked the build team to resolve significant complexity, a cantilevered master bedroom projecting over the landscape, vertical copper cladding requiring exacting tolerances, and rammed earth walls coordinated alongside a hardwood-lined ceiling and full-height glazing. The home was delivered in collaboration with Rod Hannah Design and Project 5 Interior Design, with each element of the architecture resolved through close coordination between consultants, trades and the build team.

A bespoke family home shaped by raw natural textures, bold structural form and a strong connection to its surrounding bushland.
Pardalote Residence is a bespoke family home shaped by raw natural textures, bold structural form and a strong connection to its surrounding bushland.
The design is anchored by rammed earth walls, bringing weight, texture and permanence to the home. This natural materiality is paired with vertical copper cladding, a bold external finish that will gracefully patina over time, allowing the home to continue evolving with its environment.
Expansive floor to ceiling glazing frames uninterrupted, tree lined views, transforming each window into a living artwork. These openings were carefully considered to bring the landscape into the home, capturing changing light, movement and outlook throughout the day.
Inside, the residence plays with a considered contrast of light and shadow. Hardwood timber ceiling linings bring warmth and depth overhead, while darker interior finishes create a sense of intimacy and calm. Vast open family living areas encourage connection, while a snug movie room offers a more private retreat within the home.
The cantilevered master bedroom is one of the defining design gestures of the residence, projecting dramatically over the landscape and strengthening the home’s relationship with its setting. This is echoed outdoors, where a sweeping cantilevered angled roof provides both shelter and sculptural presence over the alfresco space.
Every detail of Pardalote Residence has been designed to celebrate natural materials, light play and the quiet beauty of its bushland context. Brought to life by Forster Constructions, the home reflects a confident design vision and the importance of a build team capable of executing complex architectural detail with care.
Project 5 Interior Design
Interiors that are practical,
intelligent and expressive
At Pardalote Residence, our interior direction was centred around creating a unique and inspiring family home that felt deeply connected to its Red Hill setting.
From the beginning, the brief called for interiors that were practical, intelligent and expressive. Working closely with the clients, architect and builder, we developed a considered palette that reflected both the strength of the architecture and the dense bushland surrounding the home.
Natural materials were an important part of the concept. Blackbutt solid flooring and battened ceilings bring warmth and continuity throughout the interiors, while blackened timber feature walls create contrast, depth and a more dramatic finish. These elements sit alongside rammed earth and concrete, allowing the interior spaces to feel grounded, robust and connected to the architectural form.
The finishes were selected to create a layered and tactile experience. Leathered granite, Verde Ricca marble, limestone crazy paving and charred timber each bring their own texture and character, while soft green tones have been woven through the interiors to reflect the surrounding landscape. Together, these selections create a home that feels refined, practical and highly personal to the family who lives there.
As the project developed on site, the relationship between interior and exterior became even more apparent. The copper cladding beginning to patina against the rammed earth, paired with the warmth of the solid Blackbutt ceiling internally, brought a strong sense of material harmony to the home.
Lighting design was also a key part of our scope. Through a customised lighting plan, each space was considered for both function and atmosphere, ensuring the interiors not only looked beautiful, but worked intelligently for everyday family life.
Brought together by Forster Constructions, Pardalote Residence is a project that reflects the value of collaboration across every phase of development. It is a home shaped by materiality, detail and a clear understanding of the brief.
