Cape Residence is emerging from the cliff’s edge of Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula, a site whose complexity and exposure have shaped every stage of its design and construction. The home is being delivered in collaboration with Vibe Design Group, whose architectural response has been moulded by the slope and dense vegetation, offering the opportunity to design with the land, not against it.

Vibe design Group’s luxury modernist response to one of Cape Schanck’s most challenging sites.
Our approach to the design of the Cape Residence was to elevate the built form to minimise disturbance while maximising the panoramic views. Defined by clarity of structure, restraint in materiality, and a strong horizontal expression, the design delivers a refined and resolved outcome in a highly complex setting.
Construction Update
16/06/2026
This project has now reached one of its most significant milestones to date, with the site at a stage where the 100-tonne crane can finally be mobilised and positioned. Reaching this point has been a major achievement and marks the beginning of the next phase of construction, allowing structural steel installation to commence.
One of the key challenges throughout the project has been the driveway construction. Due to the site’s complexity, the driveway was a critical path item and one of the biggest obstacles preventing the project from progressing. With the driveway now complete, site access has been established and heavy equipment can safely enter and operate on site.
Another major factor influencing the program has been the required concrete curing periods. Several stages of the works required 21-day curing timeframes before loads could be applied and construction could continue. These waiting periods created unavoidable delays and meant progress often depended on time rather than labour or resources.
With the driveway completed, the curing periods behind us, and the crane now able to access the site, many of the project’s unknowns and high-risk elements have been resolved. The team can now move forward with greater certainty, confidence and momentum.
This milestone represents more than just progress on site — it demonstrates the planning, coordination and persistence required to overcome the challenges of a complex build. The project is now transitioning from the heavy civil and enabling works phase into the exciting stage where the structure will begin to take shape.
